“Be perfect, therefore as your heavenly Father is perfect.” – (Matthew 5:48) Creation was perfect in God’s eyes until it was marred by sin. Now that sin has been atoned for in Christ, God is calling us back to perfection. It might seem unrealistic in this fallen world but aiming for perfection is being conscious of a Holy God and therefore we have been instructed to desire for it. ‘Aim for perfection … be of one mind, live in peace.’ – (2 Corinthians 13:11) Though it seem unattainable inspite of best efforts, the day is coming ‘when perfection comes and the imperfect disappears … Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face.’ – (1 Corinthians 13:10-12) Therefore we are not discouraged because ‘we know that when he appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. Everyone who has this hope in him purifies himself, just as he is pure.’ – (1 John 3:2-3) Amen.
